Union Grade Limited is a Licensee of EPI to produce degradable plastic bags incorporating TDPA that is environmental friendly.

TDPA (Totally Degradable Plastic Additives) provides a means for rendering conventional plastics degradable, and ultimately biodegradable, within a reasonable and controlled time-frame.   TDPA is added to produce totally degraded plastic products such as polyethylene carrier bags to biodegrade, when disposed of in an appropriate environment.

The plastic bag incorporating TDPA has no visual difference and is as functional as the conventional plastic bag.  The degradation, which involves the reaction of the plastic with oxygen in the air, is initiated by exposure to sunlight, elevated temperatures and mechanical stress.  Plastic bags made with polyethylene have been shown to subsequently be biodegradable into non-toxic end products.

Yet, plastic bag with TDPA is economical and compatible with recycling operations; it is a balanced technology that satisfies multiple needs.
